MoMA: The Museum of Modern Art

“Is there art in a broomstick? Yes, says Manhattan’s Museum of Modern art, if it is designed both for usefulness and good looks”

-Times Magazine

Founded in 1929, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) located in Midtown Manhattan, New York, was one of the first Museums dedicated to the modern era, playing a major role in the development and collection of modern and contemporary arts. Today, we recognise MoMA as the leading and most influential museum of modern art in the world.
MoMA’s rich and diverse collection currently boasts over 150,000 paintings, drawings, sculptures, prints, photographs and other artefacts, offering an extensive overview of modern and contemporary art and design. Despite only establishing a permanent collection in 1952, the MoMA fine arts collection is one of the most important in the world and is now home to some of the greatest works of avant-garde art, including Vincent Van Gogh’s The Starry Night, Claude Monet’s Water Lilies, and Pablo Picasso’s Les Demoiselles d’Avignon.
